Friends of Coranderrk
The ‘Friends of Coranderrk’ are a group of people
who are willing to make a practical contribution
to rebuilding and rejuvenating Coranderrk.
Our Priorities
Restore the land
The land needs some tender loving care. With the help of our funding partners and hard work by our wonderful farm manager David Stewart, we have completed extensive fencing and stock water projects to enable sustainable rotational grazing, and made good inroads into reducing weed cover. With the help of the Friends we have planted over 20,000 plants in our wildlife corridors and made a start on manual weed control along Birrarung. There's plenty more to do across the farm and we are also starting our Bush Food Garden and Orchard and more (see 'Our Projects').
Tell the Coranderrk story to raise awareness of indigenous history and culture
We want to honour the strength and courage of our ancestors – to tell and use their stories as inspiration for us, indigenous and non indigenous people to learn more about our history, to understand and to respect indigenous culture.
Reconnect indigenous people with Coranderrk
Coranderrk was an important place for all indigenous people.
Many Victorian aborigines have ancestors who lived at Coranderrk.
We want to help these people reconnect with Coranderrk, to learn
about their ancestors and to share their stories.
